Hello from the train! We just crossed Lake Ponchatrain and stopped in Slidell. It is very very quiet on the train. When I went on the cafe car to get some breakfast, they’re were lots of folks who were sleeping with Lutheran t-shirts on the train. Our six youth were sound asleep pretty much after we pulled out of New Orleans this morning.
That’s a good thing. We’ve been very busy. The people of New Orleans noticed that we were here and how we made a difference there. A random woman stopped us yesterday and thanked us. She was a Christian, not a Lutheran. She said it was wonderful that so many of us were here, especially because of their faith. Another woman saw us in the aquarium and thanked us. She even gave us a hug.
It is exactly when we look beyond ourselves and look towards the interests of others that we live out our faith. (Phil. 2:1-8). It is my hope that these youth lead us to more reaching out in our community to see the ministries God is calling us to do in the world.
